History

The name Transnet is synonymous with performance. My name is Alex Garcia and I founded Transnet in the early 1990’s as I followed my dream of becoming a race car driver.

As a child, I discovered a love for automobiles that continues to shape my life today and auto racing was a natural path to follow as it had been part of my family dating back to the 1930’s in Argentina.

Transnet evolved from a childhood dream that was started with an old race car in my parent’s garage in Marietta, Georgia to a well-established race team that has seen competition across some of the biggest circuits in the world.

I became a race car driver but remained involved in other aspects of the automotive industry; my initial interest came from my brother John, a GM dealer in Fort Wayne, Indiana who pointed me towards retail auto sales with a goal of one day becoming a dealer.

My father, on the other hand is a manufacturer of metal and plastic components. He supplies some of the largest car-makers in the world, I was interested in both retail and manufacturing but after having spent four and half years in the automobile retail industry on my own, I decided to join the family business and spent the following ten years of my life in manufacturing, primarily in a sales and marketing role but heavily involved with engineering and manufacturing as well.

I have enjoyed manufacturing and continue to consider myself a manufacturer and supplier to the automotive industry, as an automobile lover, there is nothing more special to me than to participate in the development of new vehicles from some of the best regarded engineering power-houses in the world, and see new vehicles as they go from concept level to the showroom.

As a child, I expressed my interest in owning a car dealership to my parents but life took me in a different direction with manufacturing and auto racing; a rewarding direction but through time I had maintained the desire to come back to auto retail and that is how I arrived here at Transnet Automotive.

Times have changed and dealers continue to evolve with technology, I love what the internet has done for communication and the reach that it provides, so Transnet Automotive starts by reaching via technology with an office in Marietta, Georgia and a shop in Morrow, Georgia.
